what the hell is so hard? there is no guessing,no thinking, just play the game like you are supposed to and hopefully everyone at the table wins.

there is always 1 idiot who feels the need to stand on a 16 vs a 10 because god forbid he busts and loses his $10... this same jackass will hit a 12 vs a 5 because "12 isnt really good"..... they usually do this when you have aces split 45 times on a hand.

then after this idiot screws the entire table he inevitably gets dealt a blackjack the next hand.... just aggravating...

go play slots if you dont know what the hell you are doing!!!

NJ,

I have played every combination, me play right with good players, bad players, me drunk playing bad with good players, bad players, etc.

In the end I have come to the conclusion that either your luck is in or out. A perfect example was the other week. It was my Wifes B-day and we had been out and had a drink or two. For the hell of it, I gave her 100 euro to play with, even though she only knows the basics. She quickly turned it into 500, which I promptly lost back. This must have happened about 10 times until she stopped me playing, ending 300 up.

when i go to the casino, i attract idiots like no one else....

i sit at the bj table alone, it fills up with people either too drunk to see the cards, or people that hit on 20...thinking they will draw an ace....

crap table.....my turn to shoot, i cant because some goofball is asking me why dont i bet the field like he does...or someone is arguing over a two dollar horn bet....

Dime,it's not you.I figure 90% of people that are in a casino at any given time are clueless.

I've had lots of players scream at me for standing on 16 vs. 10 or hitting 12 vs. 5 and the like. They were so sure they knew how to play that I didn't feel like educating them. Instead I said something like: "BJ is not a team sport last I checked. If you don't like how I play, ask for a private table."

Mr. NJ, I feel your pain more than you can imagine. Staying away from the $5.00 tables usually helps but not always. The sad truth is that the world is filled with morons who don't want to learn how to play the game to reduce their disadvantage. When a guy does that, I just go to the next table and hope the guys there know how to play. I used to get so pissed that I would borderline throw my drink on the guy. I guess age has made me realize that morons are everywhere, and i am better off just walking away with the hope that the next table has guys who at least know and adhere to basic strategy.

How the hell do you think they built these places to begin with? I too have ranted @ the "idiots" playing BJ. But have found over MANY yrs it`s counterproductive, all it does is thro me off my game and accomplishes zilch. As one poster said it DOES even out, for every time the dipshit @ 3rd base takes a hit on 15 against a 6 and catches a face just as often he pulls the houses 5. Just like in sports betting all we remember is the "bad beats". In LV I love to move a lot and it helps. But playing here (Mn) the options are limited as there just aren`t enough tables or open spots most of the time. Luck to all.

Darryl-

You have just made a huge ass out of yourself. For you to play blackjack with the selfish attitude that you have..... You are a real asswipe!

zx,

My selfish attitude kicks in when someone whose knowledge about blackjack is about 2% of mine wants to tell me (in an impolite way) what the right play is.

ID,

So you almost know basic strategy, is that what you're saying? Did you know that there are BJ strategies which actually win in the long run!? And guess what? In those you sometimes deviate from basic strategy.

Here is an example of a strategy table which goes beyond basic strategy:

http://www.customstrategycards.com/fmt_index.htm

Note that in the case of 12 vs. 5 there is a number on the table. That means that if the true count is below -1, then the correct play is to hit. Depending on the number of decks, that happens about 25-40% of the time.

In the case of 16 vs. 10, the table says always surrender, which is pretty close to optimal if surrender is allowed (in reality it is correct to do this between 90 and 98% of the time, depending on the number of decks). If there is no surrender, however, hitting is correct about 55% of the time, while standing is better the other 45%.

So before you chew someone's head off about how they play, be sure you know you're right. If he's counting cards and you're not, maybe it's you who is upsetting the (totally fictitious) rhythm at the table.

My guess is that the kid on vacation betting $10 a hand, every single hand, is not counting cards.

your right the kid betting 10 a hand isnt counting

but this kid is

first of all what someone else does at your table means jackshit in the long run

Secondly your playing a game with negative expectation you WILL lose in the long run if you are not counting cards

I piss people off all the time stading on 15 vs a 10 when the count is very high or hitting a 12 vs a 16 when the count is low (right beofre i leave the table and leave them with the shitty count) and I just laugh at them as i take my well timed bathroom break because as dumb as they think I am liek almost everyone else in the casino they are a long time loser and I am not
